Support for secondary pupils and school leavers

It's another year like no other, but our career advisers are here to help.

If you're not ready to make any decisions

If you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious or worried, that's okay. If you're not ready to look at options right now, that's also okay. We have support and resources available for your wellbeing that you can access any time you need.

What support we can give you

As you start to break for your summer holidays, we’re still here to help you. Whether you're starting to think about your future or you've just got your provisional results, we're here to give you the help you need.

You can contact our careers advisers through our results helpline, but if you want to speak to someone in person, you can contact your local careers centre.

Our careers advisers can offer advice and guidance throughout your time at school and after you leave. They can help with:

  • Discussing your options and possible next steps - especially if you’re not sure what you want to do when you leave school
  • CVs and job applications
  • College and university applications
  • Interview preparation
  • Making your subject choices

We have lots of help and advice here on My World of Work too. Get started on your to-do list in your account and find more information on this page.

Keep up to date

We've pulled together some useful sources of information to help during this time:

Speak to someone

There’s a careers adviser based in your school.

They can help you think about what you'd like to do when you leave school and the different routes you can take to get there.

You can contact a careers adviser even when your school is closed. You can call the SDS Helpline number on 0800 917 8000 which is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Or if you'd prefer to speak to someone in person, you can contact your local careers centre to book an appointment.
