Course details
Course description
The course is designed for students who are considering a change in direction and who wish to pursue a career in psychology. This degree allows graduates with an honours degree in any discipline to ‘convert’ this to an accredited psychology degree and offers you the opportunity to gain a British Psychology Society (BPS) accredited psychology degree (accreditation pending). This in turn provides you with the basis for graduate registration i.e. Graduate Basis of Chartership (GBC) of the BPS and ensures that graduates are able to pursue a career in psychology by specialising through post-graduate study. The primary aim of this MSc is to develop your understanding of how and why people act in the way that they do. Through the degree you will gain a scientific understanding of the mind, brain and behaviour by focusing on the key areas of psychology (i.e., Biological, Cognitive, Developmental, Individual Differences, Research Methods and Social). There is a strong emphasis on developing your awareness of research methods and data analysis, which is facilitated by our new custom-built lab facilities. Our MSc builds on the research expertise of psychology staff and focuses on the practical applications of psychology. This means that you will gain an understanding of how psychology relates to real-world issues, for example, to the areas of health, education, and the workplace.
