**Aplied Bioscience**
This programme equips you with the skills to pursue a career within biological sciences, in disciplines such as molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology and immunology. Career options include clinical, food & beverage, environmental or industrial sectors, research and teaching. Graduates are eligible for membership of the Royal Society of Biology

Work-related learning is available, including an optional 12-week placement or one-year sandwich placement. Students have undertaken placements with organisations such as the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow, Devro and Controlled Therapeutics (Scotland) Ltd.

Career paths include research; analysis; production and quality assurance; sales and marketing; clinical trials and the traditional bio-industries such as brewing and food processing. MSc or PhD options are available for graduates.

This qualification is acceptable for embarking on teacher training (Biology and Science) courses.

Successful graduates automatically fulfil the educational requirements of Associate Membership of the Royal Society of Biology.

Entry requirements

Scottish HNC minimum entry requirements: Pass

Pass in Applied Science or Bioscience for entry to Year 2. Other HNC titles will be considered.

Scottish HND minimum entry requirements: Pass

Pass in Biotechnology, Biomedical Science, Environmental Science, Industrial Biotechnology, Applied Biological Science, and Applied Bioscience for Year 3 entry. Other HND titles will be considered.

Scottish Higher minimum entry requirements: A,B,B,B

Including Biology or Human Biology.

Scottish Advanced Higher minimum entry requirements: B,B,C

Including Biology for consideration to Year 2 entry.
