Course description
This course is for students who want to work in teaching, coaching and sports development. The college has strong links with the community and have various partnerships including Active Schools and Livingston Football Club to support volunteering and coaching opportunities.
The course includes:You can also do a first aid at work certificate, delivered through your placement opportunities with West Lothian Council.
Why choose this courseYou will get the chance to lead practical coaching sessions and gain experience working with your peers and in the wider community. As well as this vital practical industry experience, there is also the opportunity to undertake various sports governing body awards and coaching qualifications. You can also use the Endurance fitness suite, and the college is an active member of Scottish Student Sport. We have sports teams in football, rugby, basketball and badminton, giving you the opportunity to represent the college in various external leagues.
Learning outcome
Education: degree-level courses in sports disciplines, with possible direct entry to year 2 or 3 at some universities. Previous students have progressed onto courses at The University of the West of Scotland, The University of Edinburgh and The University of Stirling.
Employment: ideal for those wanting to go into PE teaching, or work in positions such as sports coaching, sports development officer or active schools coordinators.
Entry requirements
An Enhanced Disclosure Scotland application is required which you will do through the college if offered a place.
If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course.
