Course description

Applied Sport Science is the study of human responses to sport. This involves the application of scientific principles to the promotion, maintenance and enhancement of sport and exercise-related behaviours.

Our programme is centred on four key disciplines:

* physiology

* biomechanics

* psychology

* skill acquisition

You will develop an understanding of the factors that influence participation and performance in sport and exercise.

Entry requirements

Scottish Higher minimum entry requirements: A,B,B,B

ABBB by end of S5 or AABB/ABBBB by end of S6. BBB must be achieved in one year of S4-S6. Required subjects: Highers: one from Biology, Human Biology, Chemistry or Physics, or Mathematics AND Psychology, or Psychology AND PE at B. Higher Applications of Mathematics is not accepted in place of Higher Mathematics. National 5s: English at C. Applicants without a science at Higher may be considered if sciences were achieved at National 5.
