Course details

Course description

Studying an individual postgraduate module, chosen from the full range of subjects available in the School of Humanities, gives you a flexible study programme to suit your own interests and needs.

Modules are available in comics studies, creative writing, English studies, film studies, history, philosophy, and science fiction.

You can also study an interdisciplinary module covering approaches to literature, criticism, and culture, which would allow you to look at literary theory and other theories of visual art, choosing whichever topics suit your study needs.

You will develop enhanced study and research skills. You will also be able to study:

- the latest humanities theory (such as critical theory, postmodernism and post-structuralism)

- archival skills

- research by non-archival means (such as statistical or database analysis, or oral-history interviewing)

We have a strong research community and you will have the opportunity to participate in regular postgraduate forums, exchanging research ideas and projects. There are also regular visiting speakers and research seminars that you can attend.

The modules form part of our postgraduate degree portfolio, and so by combining relevant modules you may be able to continue from a single module to a postgraduate certificate, diploma or a full Masters degree.
