Course details

Course description

Anthropology, Theology and Religion at Aberdeen is a great partnership, adding to your thorough grounding in what it means to ‘be human’ with deeper study of the origin, function, and meaning of religion. You will compare the major and local religious traditions of the world, with a special focus on Christian faith, life and doctrine in its historical and present day context. This programme will open up a wide range of career options, in addition to ministry.

Theology and Religion deepens your study of the religious elements of anthropology, whether you are specifically interested in the Christian faith or want to explore the historical, social and political development of the world’s religions.

Your courses will include biblical languages, the history of the church in the west, the Reformation in Scotland, the role of religion in ethical and political debates, religious aspects of disability, religious rituals and religions of the world. As a graduate, your skills will make you highly employable in a wide range of roles, including ministry, media and journalism, public service and administration, NGOs, business, government, publishing, education, and research.
