Course details
Course description
This Unit forms part of the National 4 Mathematics Course but can also be studied as a stand along Unit. The National 4 qualification enables learners to select and apply straightforward mathematical skills in a variety of mathematical and real-life situations. Learners interpret, communicate and manage information in mathematical form. The aim of this particular Unit is to develop learners’ numerical and information handling skills to solve straightforward, real-life problems involving number, money, time and measurement. As learners tackle real-life problems, they will decide what numeracy skills to use and how to apply these skills to an appropriate level of accuracy. You will cover the numerical skills to solve straightforward, real-life problems involving money/time/measurement and interpret graphical data, as well as situations involving probability. You will also learn to use these solutions to explain decision making.
Entry requirements
You will require completion of a National 3 Lifeskills Mathematics Course, relevant component units or an equivalent course. This course requires you to manage your workload independently, and will involve attendance at a campus or centre - often for assessment purposes only.
