Course description
This Unit forms part of the National 4 Mathematics Course but can also be studied as a stand along unit. The National 4 qualification enables learners to select and apply straightforward mathematical skills in a variety of mathematical and real-life situations. Learners interpret, communicate and manage information in mathematical form. The aim of this particular Unit is to develop skills linked to straightforward mathematical expressions and formulae. These include the manipulation of abstract terms, the simplification of expressions and the evaluation of formulae. The Outcomes cover aspects of algebra, geometry, statistics and reasoning. You will cover the use of mathematical operational skills and reasoning skills linked to expressions and formulae.
Entry requirements
You will require completion of a National 3 Lifeskills Mathematics Course, relevant component units or an equivalent course. This course requires you to manage your workload independently. You will be allocated a tutor once enrolled on course who will contact you regularly to monitor your progress. You will have access to all the student support online services available via the college website.
