Course description

This examination-based Graded Unit is a mandatory unit within the HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering Group Award. It may also be part of another Group Award or taken as a stand alone, single HN unit. It will consist of a written examination of three hours duration. Credit points and level: 1 HN credit at SCQF level 7: (8 SCQF credit points at SCQF level 7) This unit will confirm that you have:  Developed knowledge, understanding and skills in a range of core principles and technologies by undertaking units in engineering drawing, quality systems, engineering principles, materials selection, statics and strength of materials, dynamics, thermofluids and pneumatics and hydraulics Developed the ability to apply analysis and synthesis skills to the solution of mechanical engineering problems Developed learning and transferable skills (including core skills) Whether you wish to progress in your studies or enter the world of work, North East Scotland College has excellent progression opportunities, with links to eight universities across Scotland and great relationships with industry employers. Entry requirements

It is recommended that the candidate should have completed or be in the process of completing the following units: Mathematics for Engineering 1: Mechanical and Manufacturing Quality Management: An Introduction Engineering Principles Materials Selection Strength of Materials Statics and Dynamics Thermofluids Pneumatics and Hydraulics This course requires you to manage your workload independently with tutor support which would be available via email and telephone. You would be assigned contact details and guidelines for your tutor once enrolled on course.
