Course description

There are nearly three million people currently living with diabetes in the UK and experts predict that this number will reach five million within the next twelve years. As the prevalence of diabetes continues to increase, the understanding of how to manage diabetes also needs to increase. By completing this qualification, you will improve and develop your knowledge and understanding to help provide the best care possible for people who are living with diabetes. You will also develop awareness of how the onset of Type 2 diabetes can be delayed with lifestyle changes. This course is split into manageable units, each which require to be successfully completed to achieve the qualification.  Studying via distance learning means you can choose when and where you study. Access to the course is provided online with a personal tutor allocated to provide relevant support.

Entry requirements

A basic level of numeracy and literacy is required to comply with the health & safety and assessment aspects of the qualification. You should also be a minimum of 16 years old, and working in a healthcare setting.  This unit provides a key progression route between education and employment (or further study/training leading to employment) for anyone interested in the care profession. This course requires you to manage your workload independently with tutor support which would be available via email and telephone. You would be assigned contact details and guidelines for your tutor once enrolled on course. You will have access to all the student support online services via the college website.
