Course description
Providing candidates with opportunities to develop generic employability skills in the context of the uniformed and emergency services.
This course will allow candidates to start to develop the general and practical skills, knowledge and understanding and employability skills needed to work in the sector – providing the fundamental skills required to pursue further training or employment in the public services sector.
The course focuses on developing generic employability skills needed for success in the workplace through a variety of practical experiences in the areas of uniformed and emergency services.
What you will experienceThe course consists of four mandatory units:
All the units are at National 4 level. Central to the course is the development of skills that are valued by employers in the uniformed and emergency services. These skills are embedded in all four Units.
Candidates will have the opportunity to develop their employability skills through practical activities in real or simulated working environments, investigations and team-working activities. Candidates will also be involved in self-evaluation of these skills, seeking feedback from others about their skills and identifying areas of improvement whilst taking account of the feedback received.
What you will needWhilst you are taking part in the course, you will be required to provide and wear a sports kit and indoor trainers for the fitness and sports elements.

There are no formal entry requirements required for this course, although pupils should provide a detailed pupill statement when completing their application.
Pupils are required to attend regularly to develop the skills required to achieve success and wear appropriate clothing when participating in practical activities.
