Learn about the important parts of robotic systems and the things that affect which ones are chosen for use in different industries.
This Unit has been designed to help you to learn about Robotic Systems in an industrial context. The Unit builds on general engineering work in manufacturing and extends this to cover the use of robotic systems for manufacture.
What you will experienceOn completion of the Unit you should be able to describe and compare the main attributes of robotic systems, select and justify suitable robotic systems for a given industrial application and program and operate a robotic system to perform a given industrial task.

Entry to this qualification is at the discretion of NESCol.
For entry to PDA Advanced Manufacturing, learners would benefit from having attained the skills, knowledge and understanding required by one or more of the following or equivalent qualifications and/or experience.
- NC or HNC in a related discipline.
- At least one Higher level pass, with appropriate supporting passes at National 5 or equivalent in appropriate subjects, desirably this would include Maths, English, and or a Science subject.
- SVQ in an Engineering discipline and/or suitable relevant work experience.
