Course description
Gain an understanding of the need for sustainability and the adoption of renewable energy sources in order to limit global environmental damage.
This unit gives a broad overview of the many energy and environmental issues that face the world today. These issues are leading some to believe that the use of renewable energy sources represents one way of meeting at least part of the world’s energy demands while also helping to reduce the impact on the environment.
What you will experienceThis 2 credit unit describes the basic technology associated with renewable energy devices. You will gain familiarity with the physics and engineering of the equipment used for extracting the available energy, and understand how energy transfer processes impact on efficiency and cost.

The following qualifications are recommended for entry into the PDA Renewable Energy Systems:
- HNC or HND Engineering Systems.
- HNC or HND Mechatronics.
- A suitable multi-disciplinary degree.
- Other awards deemed equivalent to the above.
