HND (SCQF Level 8)

The need for cyber security specialists in the modern workplace is paramount, all organisations have an obligation to ensure that their network, applications and data is secure. This course will provide you with the skills to meet the industry requirements.

We will introduce you to Networking and what practices we can put in place to secure a Network from attacks, you will learn about programming and how this can help you become a better Cyber Security specialist, and we will introduce you to the laws that affect Cyber Security specialists and the effects that these laws can have on companies and individuals.

What you will experience
  • Get the opportunity to undergo scenarios in Ethical Hacking and Digital Forensics.
  • Cyber adversary methods and our mitigations.
  • Introduction to Encryption and Blockchain.
  • Team working in IoT and virtualisation projects.
  • Students on this course can apply for one our paid intern positions working on the student IT Helpdesk. This is a great opportunity to put into practice what you have learned while supporting students at College.

    Entry requirements

    • Two Highers at Grade C or above – preferably one in Computing Science
    • A Foundation Apprenticeship in any subject area will be considered equivalent as one unrelated Higher for entry to this course
    • Students progressing from Advanced Computing (SCQF Level 6) can also gain entry to this course.
    • Students must have Numeracy Core Skills and Communication both at Level 4 or Higher.
