Course description

Providing you with the confidence and competence to pursue a career in complementary therapies.

You will learn advanced aspects of Complementary Therapies and related industries, and how to work effectively with colleagues and clients.

You will develop critical and evaluative thinking, self-direction and reflective practices, whilst gaining practical skills in body, aromatherapy and Indian head massage and reflexology techniques whilst working with clients. Anatomy, physiology and health and safety are key theoretical subjects on the course.

You will learn in a realistic work environment, promoting personal health and wellbeing, which provides preparation for work placement and excellent salon experience for progression to employment.

What you will experience
  • Consultation techniques to promote health and wellbeing
  • Practical skills in body and aromatherapy massage
  • Indian head massage
  • Reflexology
  • Underpinning knowledge for complementary therapy, including health and safety, perspectives of health and professional practices
  • Work experience in a local clinic/salon
  • What you will need

    You are required to purchase the designated kit, text book and uniform.

    You will be required to wear the designated uniform in all practical classes and closed in shoes. No jewellery can be worn in practical classes. Full details will be provided at an information session.

    Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

    This course is a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programme. This means that you are required to have access to your own laptop computer, netbook or similar device in class each day that you are in college.
