Course description

This course will develop your understanding of children, their stages of development and how to care for them.

This course is for progressing students, mature school leavers and those who would like to gain childcare qualifications. You must be able to embrace diversity and be able to work as part of a team as well as work independently. A placement opportunity may be provided to students who demonstrate appropriate skills and values.

    This course is a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programme. This means that you are required to have access to your own laptop computer, netbook or similar device in class each day that you are in college.

    Entry requirements

    • Three National 4 and two National 5 qualifications at grade C or above – one of which should be English. National 4s should be full courses rather than individual units.
    • Evidence of volunteering or a placement within an Early Years/ Childcare environment is preferable (normally 20 hours)
    • A clear PVG disclosure will be required prior to placement allocation. Please note that your PVG membership will be organised by the College.
