Course description

This qualification is aimed at practicing electricians who have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require an update of their current qualification before moving onto other City & Guilds Qualifications. This qualification is suitable those with limited experience of initial and periodic inspection of electrical installations such as those entering the industry from other engineering disciplines or who have been working in allied trades. Course content The qualification prepares candidates for the initial verification and periodic inspection of electrical installation work. The qualification has been developed by City & Guilds and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) On successful completion of the course candidates will be able to: • Understand requirements for inspection and testing • Understand safety management procedures when undertaking inspection and testing • Understand the requirements for the inspection of electrical installations • Understand the requirements for testing electrical installations • Perform inspection and testing of electrical installations Assessment Candidates will be expected to complete and pass a combined practical and answer paper along with an online examination to gain this qualification. You will complete the answer paper during the course with the practical element being arranged on a 1 to 1 session with the tutor on an additional date out with the course delivery. The online examination sessions are delivered on selected dates in the evening at 6pm. We will provide full detail on these assessments on your first day of the course. Duration: 7 days Attendance: Attendance is split over two weeks with 3.5 days in the first week and 3.5 days in the second week Times: 8.30am till 4.00pm

Entry requirements

Candidates would be expected to have a basic knowledge of electrical science and work within the electrical contracting industry and currently be carrying out some inspection & testing within their role. Candidates should also hold an 18th Edition Wiring Regulations 2382-22 qualification.
