Course description

Glasgow Clyde College is now offering a one-day update course to reflect the changes within Amendment 2 of the wiring regulations. This course is suitable only for those who hold the a current BS7671:2018 (18th Edition) certificate. Those with the 17th Edition or no wiring regulations certificate should enrol on a full 18th Edition course.

This is a classroom-based update with a 2-hour online assessment at the end of the day.  

Most of the changes are relevant to new types of technology such as low-carbon technologies and energy-efficient installations. The regulations will reflect the changes to ensure installations are safe, efficient, useful, able to meet developing standards and that consideration is given to electrical industry operations, the specific roles of electrical engineers and how quickly technology changes. 

Significant changes are now incorporated within a new Part 8 of BS7671:2022 providing learners with a new Chapter 82 that addresses - Prosumers Low Voltage electrical installations, removal of the risk assessment method for omitting additional RCD protection on socket outlets and new foundation earthing requirements.

The BS 7671:2018+A2:2022 Wiring Regulations textbook (brown) replaces the original 18th Edition Wiring Regulations textbook (blue).

£285 including BS 7671:2018+A2:2022 (brown book) which can be collected in advance on receipt of course fee.

Where candidates have access to the BS 7671:2018+A2:2022 Wiring Regulations text book, past papers are issued in advance of attendance.

Entry requirements

  • 18+ years of age 
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of electrical principles 
  • Electrical experience either within the electrical industry or an affiliated trade
  • An older 18th Edition certificate as regonitiion of prior knowledge to undertake the update course
  • IT skills (online assessment) 

The update course is for those who achieved the 18th Edition certificate prior to the 2022 amendment. Those who are upskilling from the 17th Edition or new to the BS7671 Wiring Regulations require to undertake a .
