Course description

Pursue your passion for travel by studying the NQ Travel and Tourism (Level 6). This course will give you the knowledge and skills required to work in a wide range of travel and tourism businesses. Successful completion also allows you to move on to HND-level travel and tourism courses. Covering everything from airline check-in and reservations, to travel agency work, tour guiding and hotel operations, this course opens doors to jobs across the sector. Over the year you will gain proficiency in the latest reservations and check-in systems, with hands-on use of industry-standard software.

This NQ Travel and Tourism course covers a variety of subjects useful for employment in a variety of roles within the tourism industry such as working at the airport, for an airline, in a travel agent or hotel or overseas as a holiday rep. Subjects covered include:

  • Selling the travel and tourism product
  • Understanding tourism in the local area 
  • Resort representation: an introduction
  • Skills for customer care
  • Travel and tourism study visit
  • Working as air cabin crew

  • Three National 5s, or equivalent, at C or above; OR
  • We will consider your application if you can demonstrate an active interest in travel and tourism but have no formal qualifications
  • You should be 16 years or over by 30 September 2024.

  • If you do not meet the entry criteria for your chosen course, you may be offered an alternative course in the same subject area.
