Course description

In the HND Digital Film and Television course allows you to benefit from using the latest technologies and industry practice during your studies. Throughout the course you will develop a skillset which equips you with key industry requirements in content development, production, technical and postproduction stages of programme making, in a setting that encourages you to work collaboratively. You will have the opportunity to make short form documentaries, films and music videos for individual and group briefs throughout the academic year.

Year 1:

You will develop skills in production-led video projects which will take you through the process of content creation, pre-production, production and postproduction, enabling you to craft a digital video portfolio. You will build technical and workflow skills including camera operation, lighting, editing and sound recording.

Year 2:

You will further develop your portfolio with short films covering the essentials of screenwriting, directing and production skills for drama. You will also enhance your understanding of the development process in factual screenwriting. These areas are underpinned by advancing technical skills in camera, lighting, and editing. You will also gain industry understanding through master classes delivered by working professionals and create a showreel and CV highlighting your practical skills.

Progression through to year 2 is not guaranteed, we take into consideration your year 1 grade and your overall aptitude, attitude, and attendance.

Through the HND you will benefit from the opportunity to find industry work placements, CV writing, and workplace development. You will also be involved in a final showcase incorporating your portfolio of work.
