Course description

The BCS Essential Digital Skills Qualification has been developed to introduce you to basic IT skills and how to be safe online. This course is aimed at anyone who wishes to learn basic skills within IT and increase their confidence and skills. The BCS qualifications covers the following areas: 1. Using devices and handling information • Hardware • Software • System settings • Using search engines • Storing information • Solving technical problems 2. Creating and editing documents, digital media, and processing numerical data • Word • Presentations • Spreadsheets 3. Communicating and sharing online • Video calls • Social media • Online identity 4. Transactions • Using online services • Buying securely online 5. Being safe and responsible online • Online safety • Online risks and threats • Digital wellbeing This course isn’t compulsory or a prerequisite for any other course, but recommended for anyone looking to study the ICDL course and has no experience.
