Course description

This course provides the underpinning knowledge to enable fire safety duties in the workplace to be undertaken more effectively. It is relevant for managers, supervisors and employee representatives and other duty holders with responsibility for fire safety and fire risk assessment in the workplace. This comprehensive course gives an excellent grounding in the fundamentals of Fire Safety Management and is a valuable addition to the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. What You Study The qualification comprises of three separately assessed units: Management of Health & Safety (NGC1) •Fire Hazard and Control (FC1) Fire Safety Practical Application (FC2). •Management of Health & Safety (NGC1) (candidates who have successfully completed NGC1 within the last five years do not need to re-sit) The elements covered are: •Foundation in Health and Safety Policy •Plan •Do •Check •Act Fire Hazard and Control (FC1) The elements covered are: •Managing Fire Safety •Principles of Fire and Explosion •Causes and Prevention of Fire •Fire Protection in Buildings •Safety of People in the Event of Fire •Fire Risk Assessment Duration and Attendance The Fire Hazard and Control (FC1) Unit is currently offered on a day-release or block release basis. Day Release: One day a week over a period of five weeks Block Release: Five days attendance over a one week period. Included in the price of the course are: •Registration and exam fees •Refreshments and lunch The published dates and price for this course assume that the candidate has completed NGC1 in the last 5 years.
