Course details

Course description

Before completing an application on my world of work. Please be aware the ITA application is for funding towards the tuition fees, not a place on the course. To apply for a place on the course students must submit an external course application through the Edinburgh college website www.edinburghcollege.ac.uk The International Certificate in Digital Literacy (formerly European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)) is an Internationally recognised qualification that enables individuals to develop their competence in computer skills. This is a highly sought-after qualification by most businesses and enhances any current employment. This formal qualification will provide you with a better understanding of computer programs you may have to use at work. You will gain digital literacy skills and improve your productivity and efficiency when using computers. The Advanced Microsoft Excel module is designed to develop your skills and knowledge in the use of more advanced operations associated with Microsoft Excel. ICDL has been split into three different levels to make it more achievable; Essentials, Extra and Advanced which are all validated through the British Computer Society. All the ECDL open learning courses are eligible for ITA (SDS Individual Training Accounts) funding. This is up to £200 towards the cost of a course. Please note: There is 1 diagnostic test and 1 exam per module for this course and you must sit them at an Edinburgh College campus. If you don't sit them at an Edinburgh College campus, you will need to source your own BCS accredited testing centre and pay their additional fees to use it. While studying the course students will complete the following: Apply advanced formatting options such as conditional formatting and customised number formatting and handle worksheets. Use functions such as those associated with logical, statistical, financial and mathematical operations. Create charts and apply advanced chart formatting. Work with tables and lists to analyse, filter and sort data. Create and use scenarios. Validate and audit spreadsheet data. Enhance productivity by working with named cell ranges and macros. Use linking, embedding and importing features to integrate data. Compare and merge spreadsheets. Apply spreadsheet security features. Students are given an academic year until 31 March 2024 to complete the course. It is recommended students study at least 4 hours a week to ensure they complete the course in the allocated time. If students prefer to complete the course work at a quicker pace they contact their tutor to arrange end of course assessment. Once enrolled students will be sent an electronic link to access the online student portal Moodle to access the course materials. They will also be given contact details of a designated tutor to contact for support while engaged in learning and to arrange end of course assessments
