Course details

Course description

This course will equip you with electrical engineering and renewable energy skills. You will gain an understanding of how electrical circuits work, the variety of components and systems that you may encounter in the electrical industry together with the practical skills to help you gain work in the electrical, engineering or renewables sector. The course will include a project on domestic renewable systems that will introduce the skills and knowledge of a domestic renewable system.

It should be viewed as the first year of a two year course to allow you to obtain the SCQF level 6 National Certificate Programme. If you are looking to be employed within the electrical engineering sector as well as gain skills and knowledge of the renewables industry then this is an excellent starting point as a stepping stone towards being a technician or an electrical apprentice.

Learning outcome

The course is aimed at providing opportunities for successful candidates to progress onto an electrical engineering apprenticeship or other engineering sectors.

This course allows for progression onto the National Certificate in Electrical Engineering at SCQF level 6 or Engineering Systems and Wind Turbine Training NC at SCQF Level 6.
