Course description

Applications of Forensic Science, Criminology and Crime Scenes, Crime in the Community

This is a College Academy link programme for those in senior phase schools.  It will interest you if you want to develop your knowledge of understanding criminal behaviour and crime.  You may be interested in a career in police, law, social work, probation service, legal services or community work. Most of us will have a fascination for trying to understand the criminal mind.  This will likely have been developed from watching popular crime shows or reading crime novels.  You may even be watching popular shows that demonstrate the forensic analysis of solving a crime.  If you watch any of these shows such as CSI, or Criminal Minds ; then this may really be the right area of study for you! Your lessons will mostly be face to face with a digital element of research   The course is challenging and quite a bit of study will be required out-with College time.

Learning outcome

You might be looking for a career in uniformed services, but are more likely to go on and study at the next level.

Successful completion of this programme with a satisfactory Tutor reference and attendance will allow you to apply for a place in one of our level 6 programmes such as Health and Social Care Theory (which includes social sciences and communities), or Access to Allied Health Professions (which includes social sciences/humanities) or our Working With Communities programme.
