Course details

Course description

This course will equip you with a thorough understanding of the knowledge surrounding electrical engineering technologies. You will gain an understanding of how electrical circuits work, the variety of components and systems that you may encounter in the electrical industry together with the practical skills to help you gain employment in the electrical sector. The practical skills will include a small project on renewable energy and it's integration into domestic properties as well as a practical exercise on how this connects into existing systems.

This is a nationally recognised award in electrical engineering. This course satisfies one key element of the Modern Apprenticeship framework for engineering. It provides an excellent and thorough grounding into the disciplines that relate to electrical engineering and introduces the concept of domestic renewable systems. If you are looking to be employed within the electrical engineering sector or move towards the renewables industry then this is an excellent qualification to support you becoming a technician or apprentice.

The course also includes Performing Engineering Operations (PEO) EAL qualification @ SVQ Level 2 and is recognised by industry as the first year of a Modern Apprenticeship in engineering.

Learning outcome

The course is aimed at providing opportunities for successful candidates to progress into electrical engineering apprenticeships, progress to HNC in Elecrical Engineering or to the Engineering Systems and Wind Turbine Technician Training course.

This course allows for progression onto the Engineering Systems and Wind Turbine Technician Training course or the Higher National Certificate in Electrical Engineering at SCQF level 7.
