Course description

You will learn about Business Culture & Strategy, ICT in Business, Statistics for Business, Preparing Financial Forecasts, Behavioural Skills for Business, Business Law, Business Contractual Relationships, Grievance & Discipline Handling, Economics: Micro & Macro and Economics: World Economy within this updated course.

This course is for students who have completed HNC Business and who want to progress to a degree in business studies or into employment in business-related disciplines.This course is equivalent to second year of degree study. We offer this course as a standalone HND or as part of a three-year programme which will allow you to graduate with the University of West of Scotland Management degree, which is also available on campus at Dumfries & Galloway College. Opportunities exist to enable learners to attend part-time on an individual subject basis.

Learning outcome

This HND will prepare you for entry to a wide range of positions such as Admin Officer; Administration Supervisor; Assistant Manager; Business Development Assistant; Business Manager; Finance Assistant; Purchasing Officer; Office Manager; Planning Officer; Sales Coordinator; Team Leader or Trainee Manager.

Successful completion of the full HND Business course will allow entry into the third year of the UWS Management degree, delivered at Dumfries & Galloway College or into second or third year of a university degree course of the learners choice.
