Course description

This course is in conjunction with Communication NC is equivalent to 'Higher English' this course can help gain entry in to most university's and colleges. It may also be attractive to employers when applying for jobs/progressing in your career. This unit is concerned with the reading of literature and with responding critically to that reading. Candidates will read and learn about a variety of literary texts from different genres. A high level of analytical reading skill will be developed as texts are studied, analysed, and evaluated. The Literature 1 can be studied in conjunction with Communication NC which it complements. The course is delivered by a course tutor, who will guide and support candidates through their course via the college’s online learning platform, LearnNet. Webinars and Teams meetings will also be part of this course, so it is recommended that learners have access to a PC desktop, laptop, or Apple Mac computer.

While entry is at the discretion of the centre, candidates would normally be expected to have attained one of the following, or equivalent: English: Literary Study (SCQF level 5) Standard Grade English (SCQF level 5)
