Course description

This course is a SQA qualification. This programme comprises of units in Numeracy, Finance and Statistics and Geometry. Students are provided with opportunities to continue to acquire and develop attributes and capabilities of the four capacities, as well as skills for learning, skills for life and skills for work. Throughout this course learners will be supported by a subject tutor who will guide you through your learning journey. There is however a strong emphasis on independent learning. You will be expected to attend any online training sessions and maintain regular contact with the course tutor. This qualification is for those who do not want to go on and have a career that involves complex numerical calculations. This qualification is accepted by the majority of universities as a valid alternative to national 5 to progress onto courses in nursing, primary teaching, social work etc.

Entry requirements

Students are expected to have attained skills, knowledge and understanding required by the following or equivalent qualifications and/or experience: - National 4 Mathematics or Application of Mathematics - The course is open to applicants with no previous qualifications.
