Course description

This award is designed to improve professional practice allowing learners to advance their knowledge using theoretical underpinnings and practical application to support people with dementia, their families and carers. The units explore stages of the disease and the importance of promoting the rights, health and wellbeing of people with dementia. The award will allow opportunity to enhance the learner’s knowledge of legislation and policies and to demonstrate methods to support individuals and their families including the use of digital resources. Method of Assessment via open Learning Pack and assignments. On completion learners would be able to progress to the following: SVQ 3 Social Services and Healthcare, SVQ Health Care Support Clinical or Non Clinical level 3, HNC Healthcare Practice or HNC Social Services.

All applicants having experience within health or social care environments would be considered although it is recommended that applicants have studied at SCQF level 5.
