Course description
This is a work-based qualification and all evidence produced must be in relation to the individual's job role and responsibility. The course is made up of eight units, three of which are mandatory: Promote effective communication in a healthcare environment; Maintain health and security practices within a health setting; Reflect on and develop your practice. Five further units must be chosen from a number of optional units. List of optional units available via link https://www.sqa.org.uk/sqa/files_ccc/SVQ3HealthcareSupportClinicalL7GL4123Structure%20WIP.doc This qualification is aimed at: • learners who have just left school • individuals who are currently in employment and who wish to obtain a formal qualification • employees who wish to obtain short, continuing professional development courses The level 3 award could provide progression to: • employment in the Healthcare sector, perhaps as a Healthcare Support Worker • related PDAs in the Healthcare sector Assessed through reflective reports and observations within an e-portfolio. Recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) for registration requirements.
Entry requirements
Applicants must be in employment as a support worker or equivalent in a healthcare service for a minimum of 16 hours per week with a minimum of 6 months' experience. Applicants must have a sound understanding of legislation, guidance and frameworks, policies and procedures applicable to the work setting. Selection will be by interview.
