Course description

This vocational qualification prepares learners to enter the beauty therapy industry and work effectively as a nail technologist/nail technician. Throughout this qualification you will develop knowledge and understanding in a range of areas including anatomy and physiology and health and safety. You will also develop and perfect a range of technical skills including nail preparation; manicures; polish techniques and application of acrylic nail extensions. Interpersonal skills will be developed on an ongoing basis, which will assist with effective client communications. This qualification will prepare you for employment as a nail technician in a nail/beauty salon or to be able to work on a self-employed basis. You will be able to gain insurance for these industry qualifications to be able to work safely.

Entry requirements

To apply for this course you must have a minimum of 2 SCQF Level 5 qualifications or equivalent. A satisfactory reference may be required. A kit will need to be purchased to be able to undertake this course, you will be advised of this at the time of acceptance of any offer. For applicants for whom English is not their first language then ESOL at SCQF Level 5 is required as excellent communication skills are needed.
