Course description
Designed to help you build a career as a TV Sound Assistant working in both studios and Outside Broadcasts. This course is delivered in partnership with BBC Studioworks, QTV, Riedel UK, CVP and FE Live.
The course tutor is Senior Sound Supervisor Jim Hunter. The Royal Television Society recognised his Outstanding Contribution to the industry at their 2022 awards for both his remarkable expertise and professionalism and also his commitment to the development of TV craft skills.
His credits include - The Edinburgh Military Tattoo, BBC Hogmanay Live, The Eurovision Dance Championships, The Weakest Link, All Round to Mrs. Brown's, The Hit List, Tomorrow's World Live, Still Game Live at the Hydro, numerous Election programmes, Chewin' the Fat, T in the Park and TRNSMT, to name but a few.
The course cost for two weeks of intensive professional training is £1,100. You will attend college each day from 9am-4pm.
Financial Support
Screen Scotland provides support for individuals working in film and television to access training in this area where there is a recognised skills gap. Funding of up to 90% is available. Information and guidelines for Screen Scotland funding.

- HND Creative Industries Television.
- HND Sound Qualification.
- Equivalent demonstrable experience in broadcast, studio or Outside Broadcast environment.
