Membership of Professional Body
City of Glasgow College

Course details

Course description

This course is a mandatory STCW requirement for core crew of any type of survival craft, and those seeking to become an officer of the watch (deck/engine) or Able Seaman onboard.

The course provides a mixture of interactive classroom learning and practical hands-on training with the use of three different crafts here at the City of Glasgow College.

Whilst on the water, you will have the opportunity to be the coxswain of each of the survival crafts, and will also launch the crafts using the davit system. This ensures that each of the candidates undergoes the most effective training, which will result in competent and confident crew members stepping on board.

This training programme is designed in accordance with the revised STCW Code and complies with the latest UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) / Merchant Navy Training Board (MNTB) requirements.
