Course description

With a growing economy in digital technologies and a requirement for a workforce to be skilled in technical roles NQ Computing (Level 6) provides a platform to develop your technical computing skills. This course will provide you with practical and theoretical skills in a range of vital subject areas and prepare you for progression to higher level HN computing-based programmes within the college.



The course is delivered by highly qualified computing lecturers who have experience within the industry.



The course is placed on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework at Level 6.

  • Digital Media Elements for Computing.


  • Website Design and Development.


  • Database Systems.


  • Cyber Security.


  • Networking Technologies.


  • Installing and Maintaining Hardware.


  • Troubleshooting Operating Systems.


  • Working with the Internet and Online Communications.


  • Computer Systems Architecture.


  • Software Design and Development.



You'll also develop the core skills in:

Learning outcome

You can go on to study a Higher National level course. The most common are our HND Web Development, HNC Digital Design and Web Development, HN Computing/Computer Science. You may also be accepted onto other computing-related courses.
