Course description
Upon successful completion of end tests, including a CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test, delegates are awarded a CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) Trained Operator Card (Red), valid for 2 years. The course is designed to enable delegates to: - Gain a practical understanding of safe and appropriate techniques whilst in charge of lifting operations. - To enable delegates to supervise, co-ordinate and control all types of lifting operations. - Have an understanding of responsibilities under current relevant legislation. Course Summary: - HSWA - PUWER - LOLER - MHSWR - CHSWR - BS 7121 - Other current relevant regulations - British Standards Signals - Crane Documentation - Preparing lifting plans - Manufacturers' Recommendations - Recognition of safe planning of lifts - Identification of suitable ground conditions - Sequence of siting of crane - Crane stability, Duty charts - Safety Devices - Safe Slinging The courses can include the following: - British standards specification - Materials and quality marks - Identification of stress/strain elongation - Identification of equipment - Lifting machine examinations - Other current relevant regulations - L.O.L.E.R. and P.U.W.E.R. - Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 - Methods of testing - Reporting procedures - Tackle examination - Report writing
