Course description
Upon successful completion of end test, this course leads to the candidate being issued with an SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority) Certificate and SWQR (Street Works Qualifications Register) Card. The aim of the NRSWA (New Roads and Street Works Act) - General Operatives Course is to enable Operatives to gain the necessary qualifications under the New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991 to allow them to carry out their duties on the public highway, ranging from excavation to permanent reinstatement of paved structures. Course Summary: - H.S.W.A. - P.U.W.E.R. - L.O.L.E.R. - Other current relevant regulations - Interpretation of plans - Safe working practices - Compaction of materials - Identification of apparatus - Excavation techniques - Disposal of surplus material - Repositioning of kerbs, edgings - Use of cable location equipment - Support to utilities apparatus - Use of temporary traffic lights - Implication of damage to apparatus - Signs, cones and barriers layout - Surface finishing - Re-use of selected excavated material Course Duration - 5 days depending on units of accreditation required.
