Helm Learning Centre - Mechanics

Course description

A 6 week vocational programme with hands-on learning, SQA qualifications and incredible experiences. Delivered Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9:30am – 2:30pm for 6 weeks in Helm’s in-house garage, Helm Autocare. Young people will be supported by trained professionals to undertake a variety of different jobs on customers cars, including; MOT repairs, changing tyres, repairing breaks, valeting and more. Over the 6 weeks every young person will be supported to try the different jobs and become proficient at them. They will be supported to complete 3 SQA qualifications; The Car, The Technician and Use & Care of Hand Tools. There will also be plenty of opportunities for the young people to interact with customers.
