Course description

This qualification is aimed at anyone wanting to gain work as a door supervisor in the UK. Under the Private Security Industry Act 2001, all door supervisors must hold a licence to practise issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA). The Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry (Scotland) at SCQF Level 6 is a nationally recognised qualification and is endorsed by the SIA and accredited by SQA. Successful completion of this qualification enables a door supervisor to meet one of the requirements to apply for their licence. Delivery of this course includes a variety of methods including self-study, virtual learning, and face to face learning. Full details are listed below next to each unit. To complete this qualification learners are expected to undertake approximately 61 hours of learning. The SIA stipulates a minimum of 44 contact hours (6-days) if self-study is undertaken. The qualification comprises 4 mandatory units: • Unit 1 - Working within the Private Security Industry (part self-study and part virtual learning with face-to-face exam and practical work) • Unit 2 - Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry (part virtual learning with face-to-face exam and practical work) • Unit 3 - Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry (part virtual learning with face-to-face exam and practical work) • Unit 4 - Physical Intervention Skills within the Private Security Industry (face to face) Assessment: • Unit 1 - 72-question multiple-choice examination paper plus practical assessment. • Unit 2 - 50-question multiple-choice examination paper plus practical assessment. • Unit 3 - 20-question multiple-choice examination paper plus practical assessment. • Unit 4 – 30-question multiple-choice examination paper plus ongoing practical assessment throughout the course by the tutor and a knowledge assessment marked by the course tutor. Please note that this course involves 2 days of physical training that you must successfully complete as part of the overall course. Entry requirements

Entry Requirements You must be at least 16 years and above to participate in this training however you must be 18 years or older before you can obtain an SIA licence. Candidates taking their Door Supervision training for the first time will need to show that they hold a current and valid First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate* that meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Candidates must provide us with a copy of their certificate before they start training. *This certificate must be valid for at least 12 months from course start date. Candidates must have current valid photographic ID such as a signed UK photo card driving licence or passport. Provisional driving licences are acceptable if they are in date. Candidates must also produce 2 other forms of ID with their name and address dated within 3 months of the assessment date. This could be documents such as bank or credit card statements, utility bill or job centre letter. Due to the nature of their work, candidates should, as a minimum, have language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening equivalent to the following qualifications or equivalent level: • An ESOL qualification at Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework Level 5 awarded by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and taken in Scotland • SQA Core Skills in Communication at Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework Level 5 A full list of Entry Requirements can be obtained by contacting us at enquiries@ngtraining.co.uk
