This top-up qualification is designed for learners who currently hold an SIA licence to work as a door supervisor and wish to renew their badges. It is an upskilling course and from 1st October 2021, it has become a mandatory requirement. The course covers ways to recognise terrorism, effective crowd control techniques, as well as updated best practices for security professionals working after the pandemic. How is this course delivered? The course is delivered via blended learning. Learners will complete one part of the course online and the other part is classroom-based. Prior to class commencement, we will need to see proof that you've completed your e-learning. This course also includes Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) training. Assessments This top-up door supervisor training course is assessed using written exams alongside practical assessments. Multiple-choice exams: • Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in The Private Security Industry (10 questions) • Principles of Using Equipment as a Door Supervisor in The Private Security Industry (5 questions) • Application of Physical Intervention Skills in The Private Security Industry (30 questions) Practical assessments: • Principles of Using Equipment as a Door Supervisor in The Private Security Industry • Application of Physical Intervention Skills in The Private Security Industry Why get this qualification: This is designed for learners who currently hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a door supervisor and need to be brought up to date with the new licence-linked qualification requirements. Any business selling alcohol, including small pubs, retailers, large nightclubs, cafés, restaurants, hotels, and sports facilities may need trained security staff qualified as door supervisors who hold an SIA licence. Certification Upon successful completion candidates will receive a Highfield Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Top-Up). The qualification is awarded by Highfield Qualifications and sits on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF). This qualification is supported by the Security Industry Authority (SIA), which regulates the private security industry.
