Award in Safer Moving and Handling of People is Awarded by SafeCert (Awarding Body) and Accredited by SQA. This is a 1 day course(minimum 6 hours) based in the classroom. You will also require the use of bed, preferable profiling bed, patient mobility hoist as well as other patient handling equipment such as sliding sheets, banana boards, turning discs etc appropriate to the criteria for the award. This qualification is made up of one mandatory unit Unit 1: Safer Moving and Handling of People Principles and Practice Course Content This award gives a great induction in the Level 5 Award in Safer Moving and Handling of People principles and practice, is a great refresher training course in practical skills and safe movement. The award will cover the core safety aspects of safe movement, as well as the core moves in safe movement of people with and without equipment as required. This qualification is also perfect for those looking to refresh their knowledge with CPD. Unit 1 The Principles of Safe Handling and Administration of Medication Learning outcomes 1. Understand the benefits and risks of taking and/or not taking medication 2. Know legislation and guidance for the safe handling and administration of medication 3. Know about common types of medication 4. Understand the roles and responsibilities in the use of medication 5. Know how to prepare, store and safely dispose of medication Assessment: The qualification is assessed with a multiple choice question paper. (20 questions) After successful completion of this course and subject to assessment the candidate will gain a SafeCert Award in Principles of Safe Handling and Administration of Medication Certification: SafeCert Award in Principles of Safe Handling and Administration of Medication
