Course description

This package is delivered face to face and is aimed at individuals looking to move in to, the hospitality and retail industries with responsibilities for the sale of alcohol. Successful completion of this course enables you to apply for your personal licence. SCPLH Overview This qualification is aimed at anyone in Scotland who needs to apply for a Personal Licence to sell alcohol in Scotland. The qualification covers the syllabus set by the Scottish government and will ensure learners understand the law, regulation and responsibilities attached to the retail sale of alcohol. The qualification covers the specification set by the Scottish Government to enable learners to understand the law in relation to: • The roles, responsibilities and functions of Licensing Boards and Licensing Standards Officers • The application process for a personal licence • The application process for premises and occasional licences, mandatory and discretionary conditions. • Protection of children from harm • The content and purpose of an operating schedule and risk assessment • Drunkenness and disorderly behaviour • Licensed hours • Control of order • The responsible retail sale of alcohol • Roles and responsibilities of the personal licence holder and the penalties relation to failure to comply with the law • Unauthorised licensable activities • Rights of entry to licensed premises • The strengths of alcoholic, drinks and the effects of alcohol on the human body. Emergency First Aid at Work Overview This qualification has been designed to allow candidates to obtain and then demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to be able to administer first aid to adults in the workplace and covers the following learning outcomes: 1. Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider 2. Be able to assess an incident 3. Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty 4. Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking 5. Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding 6. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock 7. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries In addition to the theory work the course includes practical work and assessment. The practical demonstrations are as follows: • Scene Survey and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation • Recovery Position • Choking • Bleeding

Entry Requirements For SCPLH, candidates need to be aged 18 years or over. Photographic ID is also required as proof of identity. There are no entry requirements for Emergency First Aid at Work.
