Course description

Overview This course is aimed at those actively seeking employment in the security industry whose current SIA door supervisor licence is due to expire. You need a current SIA licence to work as a door supervisor in the private security industry. This Door Supervision refresher course is to designed to meet the mandatory SIA top up training requirement for Door Supervisors. Qualified learners who complete the qualification will be eligible to apply to renew their SIA Door Supervisors licence. Delivery of this course includes a variety of methods including e-learning, self-study, and face to face learning. Full details are listed below next to each unit. To complete this qualification learners are expected to undertake approximately 23 hours of learning. The SIA stipulates a minimum of 13 contact hours (2-days) if self-study is undertaken. The qualifications consist of three units: • Unit 1: Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry (e-learning plus face to face) • Unit 2: Principles of Using Equipment Relevant to Working as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry supported by Skills for Security, the Sector Skills Body for the security sector (self-study and face to face) • Unit 3: Application of physical intervention skills in the private security industry (face to face) Assessment: • Unit 1: Externally set and marked multiple-choice question (MCQ) examination made up of 10 questions (20 minutes) • Unit 2: Externally set and marked multiple-choice question (MCQ) examination made up of 5 questions (10 minutes) plus practical assessment. • Unit 3: Externally set and marked multiple-choice question (MCQ) examination made up of 30 questions (45 minutes) plus practical assessment.

Entry requirements

You must be at least 16 years and above to participate in this training however you must be 18 years or older before you can obtain an SIA licence. Candidates must have current valid photographic ID such as a signed UK photo card driving licence or passport. Provisional driving licences are acceptable if they are in date. Candidates must also produce 2 other forms of ID with their name and address dated within 3 months of the assessment date. This could be documents such as bank or credit card statements, utility bill or job centre letter. Due to the nature of their work, candidates should, as a minimum, have language skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening equivalent to the following qualifications or equivalent level: • An ESOL qualification at Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework Level 5 awarded by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and taken in Scotland • SQA Core Skills in Communication at Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework Level 5 A full list of Entry Requirements can be obtained by contacting us at enquiries@ngtraining.co.uk Please note that this course involves 2 days of physical training that you must successfully complete as part of the overall course.
