Course description
The Security Industry Authority (SIA) recognises that it is essential for all CCTV (Public Space Surveillance) operators to have undergone a structured programme of training and have an SIA issued CCTV Operator licence. Successful completion of the qualification will enable candidates to apply for a licence to practice which will enable them to work within the CCTV (Public Space Surveillance) industry. This course is delivered through a mixture of self-study, virtual learning and face to face learning. A breakdown of this is shown next to each of the units for this below To complete this qualification learners are expected to undertake approximately 31 hours of learning. The SIA stipulates a minimum of 22 contact hours (3-days) if self-study is undertaken. The qualification comprises 2 mandatory units: • Unit 1 – Principles of Working within the Private Security Industry (self-study, virtual learning and face to face for practical and multiple-choice assessment) • Unit 2 – Principles and practices of Working as a CCTV Operator in the Private Security Industry (face to face) Assessment: • Unit 1 - 72-question multiple-choice examination paper plus practical assessment. • Unit 2 - 40-question multiple-choice examination paper plus practical assessment
Entry requirements
No Formal Qualifications are required to start this course. You must be at least 16 years and above to participate in this training however you must be 18 years or older before you can obtain an SIA licence. Candidates must have current valid photographic ID such as a signed UK photo card driving licence or passport. Provisional driving licences are acceptable if they are in date. Candidates must also produce 2 other forms of ID with their name and address dated within 3 months of the assessment date. This could be documents such as bank or credit card statements, utility bill or job centre letter. Due to the nature of their work, candidates should, as a minimum, have language skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening equivalent to the following qualifications or equivalent level: • An ESOL qualification at Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework Level 5 awarded by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and taken in Scotland • SQA Core Skills in Communication at Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework Level 5 A full list of Entry Requirements can be obtained by contacting us at enquiries@ngtraining.co.uk.
