Course description

The PDA Administration of Medication is made up of 2 units; Unit F9D9 34 Administration of Medication and Unit DX2X 04 Administer Medication to Individuals. It is a new qualification which has been designed to meet the requirements of social service workers who are in a job role where they assist in or administer medication to individuals. Candidates should be actively involved in the administration of medication to individuals as part of their job role and function. It provides knowledge and skills to those who administer medicine, and also provides CPD opportunities for those who have to demonstrate that they have updated and maintained their practice. The qualification has links to SVQs in Health and Social Care at levels 3 and 4. COURSE CONTENT: The target audience for the PDA in Health and Social Care: Administration of Medicine includes the following groups: - those who are involved in administering medication in social services and related settings - residential care workers - support workers and day care workers in services for older people, children and young people, mental health, care at home and housing support - personal assistants The PDA is achieved on the successful attainment of two mandatory Units. Entry requirements

It is recommended that individuals are working within a health and social care setting. Individuals should have appropriate experience within the health and social care sector and have good communication skills. This could be evidenced by a qualification as SCQF Level 5 or above. The skills to undertake this unit could also be demonstrated through an employer’s reference or the process of application and interview in the absence of certificated learning. The qualification is most suited to meet the requirement individuals who are in a job role where they assist or administer medication to individuals.
