Undertaking this course will make you stand out to an employer as it is desirable to enter the industry with a Scottish Certificate for Personal License Holders certificate and a REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate. Having these will give you the best possible chance of accessing a career in the sector. These certificates show an employer that you have gained invaluable knowledge and an understanding of working with food and drink COURSE AIM: We aim to remove barriers to training and employment for those who have no qualifications, those who are furthest removed from the labour market, BME’s, those from under-represented groups etc to encourage them to consider this course as an opportunity to be supported and trained to equip them with knowledge, practical skills and certification for moving into the hospitality sector. Learners will receive certificates to a standard that is recognised by industry and will enhance their opportunities of gaining employment in the sector. Successful employment could also enhance chances of progression onto a Modern Apprenticeship / Vocational Qualification. COURSE CONTENT: DAY 1 REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene. This one day module, which is not a mandatory qualification, covers the an introduction to food hygiene, aims, bacteria and their characteristics, food poisoning and its prevention, food pests and their control, personal hygiene and working habits, the working environment and cleaning practices, food safety legislation and on completion of the module the candidate will have a clear understanding of food hygiene. The session covers theory and practical sessions ending with a multiple choice examination. The attendee will receive REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene (SCQF L5) Certificate on successful completion. DAY 2 SCPLH (SCOTTISH CERTIFICATE FOR PERSONAL LICENCE HOLDERS) This one day module, which is not a mandatory qualification, provides learners with a clear understanding of the framework of law and regulations which underpin the responsibilities of the personal licence holder. There are 3 units to cover; Unit 1 Introduction to Licensing, Unit 2 Responsible Operation of Licensed Premises and Unit 3 Effects of irresponsible operation of Licensed Premises on Society and Health. The session covers theory and practical sessions ending with a multiple choice examination. The attendee will receive an SQA L2 Award for Personal License Holders (SCQF L6) Certificate on successful completion.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements to attend this course however in order to apply for a personal license you must be aged 18 or over. Must have photographic ID to sit SCPLH exams
