Course description
This qualification is aimed at those who wish to up-skill within a adult care workplace setting. This is a unit within the Social Services & Healthcare L7 SVQ. The accredited unit is 'CHS3'. The candidate will have to demonstrate how they administer medication to service users. They will also have to complete reflective accounts which will incorporate legislation's, local policies, guidelines set out by the SSSC and national care standards. The candidate will write about how they prepare to administer the medication ie any health and safety checks required, following good hygiene practices. The candidate will also have to demonstrate that they have full knowledge in reading and updating medication charts and also how to report any discrepancies with these. Candidate will also demonstrate how they rotate stocks of medications and how they dispose of out of date medications following legal guidelines. The candidate will be observed by their Rewards assessor administering the medication to service users following the correct procedures. Achievement of this unit award will assist individuals secure employment within an adult care setting as well as up-skill and progress within this sector.
Entry requirements
Candidates will have experience of working within an adult workplace setting.
