Course description

This package is suitable for those wishing to get into the Childcare sector or for those who are already working in the industry but who would like to progress by gaining formal qualifications. The Level 2 Food Safety in Catering course will be completed online. Candidates must complete the Level 2 Food Safety in Catering course before attending the classroom-based Paediatric First Aid course which take place over 2 days or 4 evenings. Paediatric First Aid Course Course description This qualification is aimed at individuals wishing to gain the knowledge and skills required to enable them to provide effective paediatric first aid. It is intended for learners who care for children in a professional setting such as pre-school or nursery staff, toddler group volunteers, childminders and nannies, au pairs and foster parents, or anyone who may have to deliver first aid to babies or children. The course is highly-interactive and gives delegates the hands-on experience to successfully deliver first aid in a real-life situation. Guided Learning Hours A minimum of 12 guided learning hours are required for this course. Form of Assessment The assessment for this course comprises of two parts; a practical assessment and a multiple-choice examination. On successful completion of this course, you will receive a Paediatric First Aid certificate which will last for three years. Syllabus • Role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider • Assessing an emergency situation safely • Provide first aid for a casualty who is unresponsive and breathing normally • Provide first aid for a casualty who is unresponsive and not breathing normally • Choking • External bleeding • Shock • Bites, stings and minor injuries • Fractures • Head, neck and back injuries • Conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose • Diabetic emergencies • Asthma attacks • Allergic reactions • Meningitis • Febrile convulsions • Effects of extreme heat and cold • Electric shocks • Burns and scalds • Poisoning • Anaphylaxis Level 2 Food Safety - Catering This syllabus of this course covers will ensure that the candidate gains suitable knowledge required to ensure the safe preparation and service of food in a childcare setting. Guided Learning Hours - Approximately 75 minutes are required to complete this course. Tutor support will be available by email or telephone. Form of Assessment: A short test concludes each module. A passmark of 75% for each module is required to successfully pass the course.
