Course description

This course will give students an introduction to electrics, hydraulics, various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, MMA) and working with sheet metal to construct various artefacts using cutting and bending equipment. There will also be the opportunity to operate land-based machinery, such as tractors and ATVs. The course will include contextualised core skills and sustainability. An important part of this course is work placement in the land-based sector.Core Skills for working in the engineering industry are an essential, timetabled part of this course.

Learning outcome

Fabrication and Welding Engineering NC. Service Engineering as a modern apprentice. Engineering/Mechanical divisions of the armed forces. Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate at SCQF Level 5.
